Left to right they are: unidentified (help anyone? found in a grassy wetland/orchard woodland habitat here in West Sonoma County; 3- 4 inches across); Common yellowthroat ; hummingbird (these two are specimens from the California Academy of Sciences collections)
I can really appreciate the effort that goes into weaving in each strand (by beak), after attempting to draw/paint them!
I welcome any suggestions for a helpful resource (textual/ web) in identifying birds’ nests–
